I have always been under the impression that if you have oily skin you should avoid oil based products - obviously it's stupid to add to the problem, which really is a problem as I don't enjoy looking like a fried egg!
Although it seems counterintuitive to use skin oils it turns out it's really not. Oils can actually work wonders on all skin types from (shock) oily-combination-dry.
The oil skin produces (sebum) is completely different to those of facial oils. Sebum’s main function is to protect our skin and hair from drying out, however some people produce more than is needed causing that dreaded oily skin or hair.
The majority of facial oils are made from the natural oils within plants, therefore making these oils a fantastic treatment for a shiny face, by hydrating and regulating the skin. Also the natural ingredients work as antioxidants which give you that radiant glow.
So here we have a few facial oil picks for you.
Clarins Lotus face treatment oil - RRP £32
We love this rebalancing oil which is made from 100% pure plant extracts - which is super for sensitive skin! The lotus version is aimed at oily/combination skin. To start off the smell is incredible it's the perfect scent to send anyone to sleep - it's so relaxing. However we need to get past this facade and down to what's important...well the scent only mirrors the capabilities. This rebalancing oil really does do 'what it says on the tin'. It's a fantastic addition to my dressing table and it really is a fantastic product for regulating and eliminates waking up to that awful oily face. I would definitely recommend using before bed as a facial massage to let it soak in and work its magic. Although the price tag might be more than you wish, it really worth every penny - very little goes a long way. This stuff is a dream and I would recommend it to everyone and their dog.
Bio Oil - RRP £8.95
This product is unbelievably flexible and it would be criminal to miss this one out. You've heard everyone rave about this and it's all for good reason, this one is a loyal do good. It’s fantastically comfortable on the skin and you really can feel it soaking in. But, the best thing about Bio Oil is that it really works! It’s definitely the ultimate oil for demolishing marks, especially those wrinkles and stubborn stretch marks – perfect for all ages. A definite handbag essential and at this price you have to try and be amazed like we are, you’ll be rewarded!
Angela Langford Bloom & Glow - RRP £22.50
This is a new UK based brand I hadn't heard of prior to a few weeks ago - all hand made in Somerset. Bloom & Glow is very rich and slightly heavier than the other oils so is ideal for a deep treatment, working as a booster for dull and stressed skin, restoring it back to its healthy self. It will definitely leave you with a lovely 'Glow' in the morning. I would recommend that it is used a couple of times a week as a treat for your face. The oil is delivered in a lovely gift bag including an information sheet that doesn’t miss out anything, you really get to know the product you’re using which we loved. This oil is fantastic for restoring a tired face and completely worth the purchase.
Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Face Oil - RRP £6.66
The bargain of the oils..this one is fantastic on dehydrated and sensitive skin. What makes this oil different from the others is that it is super light and almost soaks in instantly making it an easy, fast moisturiser. This allows you to continue with your daily beauty regime immediately after. The palmers face oil leaves the skin appearing refreshed, leaving it supple and feeling dare we say young...fantastic for those more matured ladies! I expected the usual cocoa butter scent - however I was pleasantly surprised by a gentle smell of rosehip, which was a lovely smell to massage into the face, right before I got myself ready for the day.
Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate Oil - RRP £42.75
I'm a big fan of Liz Earle so decided it was time to try out their facial oil and I can assure you this brand did not let me down. This oil was beautifully light which I would definitely recommend as part of your nightly ritual. The scent is rather earthy which is great for those who find floral smells over whelming. Although this oil may have a more substantial price tag than the others, you need such a tiny amount it will last you. Every last drop that is put on the skin soaks in so nothing is wasted on your pillow case. Superskin Concentrate really is super at stopping them blemishes and dry spots, leaving your face feeling incredibly soft. You will not regret.
