Kayleigh, 3 month old Rex and 16 month old Jesse were reviewing Cybex Maira.Tie baby carrier in Lavastone Black.
Inside the box for the Cybex Maira.Tie came:
The Cybex Maira.Tie Carrier;
Supporting chest strap for use if needed when using the carrier in the back carry position;
My first impressions of the Cybex Maira.Tie were very positive. It came in a well presented box which showed key information on the carrier. On the side of the box it clearly showed pictures of the 3 carry positions and on the back it presented 6 of its key features as well as a short description. It helped provide plenty of vital information before I had even opened up the box which I really liked.
When I opened up the box everything was neatly packaged inside. I needed the instructions to set up the carrier and be able to use it for the first few times. The instructions however were very clear and easy to follow. The carrier looked very stylish and made from comfortable fabrics.
After using the Cybex Maira.Tie for a while with both my children I have to say I’m very happy with it. Its very comfortable to use with both children and so easy to adjust for each of them.
When using it with my 3 month old, Rex I used it only in the front carry position. I did find it quite awkward to get into a comfortable, secure position to begin with or when he was having a wriggle. This did get a lot easier the more we used the carrier and got use to the fitting of it.
I found the fitting in all 3 carry positions relatively simple after the first few attempts while following the instructions. The waist band is extremely easy to adjust by just pulling tight the bands. The child sits in the fabric of the carrier in a natural squat position which is not only comfortable for them but is good for their hips. Its even been certified as ‘Hip healthy’ by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute, which is extremely important to me as a parent.
The main shoulder straps I found was the part that could be tricky to get comfortable and secure. To start with I found it hard to determine how tight to pull them whilst fitting the carrier to make it secure and comfortable. As previously stated, this got easier the more we used the carrier. I also found it difficult to fit the straps without them touching the floor. This is due to them being a very long, wrap material. It made it troublesome to fit the carrier when out and about as I was worried about getting it dirty. The carrier is machine washable though should it get dirty!
I found the carrier a lot easier to use with my 16 month old Jesse than I expected. This was a very pleasant surprise! I tried him in all carry positions but found the back carry is the one that worked best for us. He found it very comfortable and was happy to stay in it for long periods of time (something I wasn’t expecting at all). I even found it very comfortable to carry him and felt very well supported by the carrier. I was expecting my back to hurt after carrying him for a while but surprisingly it didn’t at all!
The Cybex Maira.Tie is a very stylish looking carrier and it comes in a range of 4 colours. We tested the Lavastone Black. I did find that this colour got dirty and showed marks quite easily but it washed very well. The fabrics are all very soft and comfortable. The shoulder straps are very well padded which adds to the comfort of the carrier.
I would definitely recommend this carrier to parents who are wanting one that will last from newborn right through to a toddler. Its stylish, comfortable, easy to adjust and most importantly Hip healthy!
