Pampers donates 100,000 free nappies to neonatal units so far this year

November 17, 2017

In April, Pampers launched its smallest ever nappy, the Pampers Preemie Protection Size P3. Since then, the brand has so far donated over 100,000 nappies to 59 of the 206 neonatal units in the UK and Ireland – with more than 18,000 premature babies benefiting from nappies specially designed to fit both them and their developmental needs.

Together with partner Bliss, the UK’s largest charity for babies born premature or sick, Pampers has helped generate awareness of the daily struggle premature babies face, and has also raised thousands of pounds to support premature babies and their families.

Today, on World Prematurity Day, Pampers continues to support Bliss and is asking people to get involved and share their stories of what ‘Prematurity Is’ to them. For every story shared on twitter today using the hashtag #PrematurityIs and tagging @Pampers_UK, Pampers will donate £1 to Bliss.

Also as part of the partnership with Bliss, Pampers has released a series of limited edition milestone cards aimed to celebrate and support some of the unique stepping stones premature babies achieve that we often take for granted. These will be distributed to neonatal units across the UK by Pampers and Bliss and will be available for free to families.

Approximately 60,000 babies are born prematurely in the UK every year – that is about 1 in 11 births – and with the survival rate of premature babies in the UK increasing , there was an increasing need for the right premature nappy. That is why Pampers developed its smallest nappy yet, for premature babies weighing less than 1.8lb (800g) and are still committed to donating an estimated 3 million to UK and Ireland hospitals’ neonatal units, giving every premature baby born access to free nappies.
