theBabaSling Classic is made from 100% cotton. The material feels soft to the touch and has suitable foam padding both on the shoulder and along the top and bottom rails, making a perfect head support for your little one. BabaSlings have both the parent and child in mind when it comes to comfort. The cotton seems very durable yet not too thick, so remaining breathable. In my opinion, I think that it would last well, even if used every day. This is great if you plan on having subsequent children as you won't need to buy a new sling each time. And BabaSlings even offer a lifetime guarantee against manufacturing defects, giving any parent the reassurance they need when purchasing such a product.
theBabaSling Classic is also machine washable up to 40 degrees however it is recommended that you don't tumble dry it so as not to cause any damage to the buckles.
Padded shoulder strap: There is a part of the shoulder strap that is padded out with a soft foam, this allows the parent to wear theBabaSling for longer lengths of time without the strap digging into their shoulder at all.
Padded rails: These provide a great head support for your little one. There is padding on both rails so that there will be a suitable head support regardless of which shoulder you wear the sling on.
Safety buckle: There is a large buckle that you do up on the theBabaSling Classic but before doing that up, there is a smaller safety buckle for you to do up. It is nice to know that your baby will always remain secure.
Adjustment straps: These straps make it so that you can adjust the tightness of the bottom and top rails; there is a separate strap for each rail, making sure that you can get that perfect fit for both you and your baby.
theBabaSling Classic is a hammock style sling, you may not know that this sling actually allows you to carry your little one in five different positions and two of these positions are ideal if you are a mum who breastfeeds her child. These positions are:
• Easy Tiger : suitable from 0 - 4 months
• Sleeping Tiger : suitable from 0 months +
• Koala Cuddle : suitable from 0 months +
• Little Joey : suitable from 3 months +
• Side Saddle : suitable from 3 months +
To get started with each position you first need to click together the safety buckle and then the large buckle. Decide which shoulder you want to wear the theBabaSling on, then make sure that the buckle is at the back, the padding is on the shoulder and theBabaSling label is just below your collar bone.
Each position is clearly shown in the instruction booklet and you are taken through each one step by step. I think even beginners would find them fairly easy to master.
The problem that I found was that the sling wasn't easy to adjust when actually wearing it, as the buckle is placed at the back of shoulder so the straps aren't easy to reach. This in turn made it hard to make the rails tight enough to make baby secure. This will probably become easier over time with practice. I was also slightly worried at how much my 18 month old could lean out of the sling, but this coincided with not being able to tighten the rails up enough.
If you are looking for a one size fits all sling then theBabaSling Classic certainly fits the bill. It is simple to use, reasonably priced and it is definitely super comfy to wear. Overall I think it is a well made sling and with the lifetime guarantee against manufacturing defects thrown in, it certainly fits in to family life well. My only concerns would be adjusting the sling but as I said it will probably become easier with practice, and as they say, practice makes perfect.
We give the theBabaSling Classic 4 out of 5 stars.
