Anyone with children will know what an essential item bibs are, whether for feeding, weaning or teething, they serve a very important purpose. Here at Mumii we have been taking a look at the Driblet bibs range to see if they are up to the job.
Driblet started when a mum noticed how much her baby dribbled, but struggled to find a bib on the market that kept him dry, looked smart without covering up an outfit, fitted comfortably and lasted well. So, quite simply, she set about making her own. With a huge range of designs available (my favourite is the black and white elephants) there is something to suit every taste.
Price
The RRP for 1 dribble bib is £6 – at the time of publishing you could buy 2 bibs for £10
Colour options
Far too many to list here, but be assured that you are sure to find a design you like! There is everything from animals and stripes to stars and cupcakes.
Driblet bibs are made from 3 layers of material. The top layer is cotton poplin, followed by a layer of fleece and backed with 100% cotton. This means the bibs are super soft to the touch, but the top layer has a slight ‘sheen’ – it immediately makes you think of waterproofing type fabrics – and that proves to be just the case. The top layer soaks up the dribble, but dries super quickly, so you don’t end up with a soaking wet bib you have to remove after 5 minutes. The fleece layer keeps the wetness away from the skin with its super absorbent properties. My teething, dribbling 7 month old wore a Driblet for several hours without any dampness seeping through, and no irritation to his skin. The bibs are machine washable and can be ironed if you really want to (iron bibs I hear you cry! I know, I know, I don’t do that either).
Driblet bibs are super duper adjustable – there are 4 plastic snap fastenings which allow for 3 different size fittings, taking you from teeny to toddler. They may not fit a larger toddler, but most children will not require them past early toddler age, and if needed, Driblet also offer a larger version as well as a newborn/small baby size, so you will find one that is a perfect fit for any stage. The Driblet bibs have a rounded neck rather than the ruched style you often see – I actually prefer the rounded neckline as I often find that the ruched versions will not sit quite right, and will bunch up around the baby’s mouth. Driblet bibs sit snugly under the chin, and do not affect eating, chewing or exploring in any way. They seem slightly shorter in length than some other bibs I have tried which is ideal when your little one is on the move – the combination of the shorter length and slightly ‘heavier’ feeling fabric ensures that the bib sits in the correct place even when your baby is rolling around.
Driblet bibs have been designed with wriggly little monkeys in mind. They look comfortable to wear, and most importantly, keep even the heaviest dribblers dry. Whether you are at the milk feeds, teething or weaning stage, Driblet bibs will handle whatever you throw at them, and they will do it all while keeping your baby looking fabulous in their range of gorgeous prints and colours. Adjustable with your little one as they grow, you will certainly get your money’s worth – and if you find that they are not quite big enough for your older toddler, you can progress on to the larger child size. The material is by far my favourite of any bib I have tried – the heavier, coated cotton makes for a great fit and fantastic protection.
Overall? A great, fit-for-purpose bib that will keep your little one clean, dry and looking fabulous. This one should definitely be on your shopping list.
We give Driblet Bibs 4.5 out of 5 stars
