One of the things we love about baby wearing here at Mumii is the closeness that it provides between you and your little one. The Babylonia Tricot-Slen can be used from birth so you can make the most of those newborn cuddles, read on to see just what else it can do…
Babylonia are believers that babies who are carried close benefit from the direct physical contact that they are getting. The Tricot-Slen allows your little one to develop naturally whilst remaining safely nestled, giving them a feeling of security as they take in the world around them.

We received the Babylonia Tricot-Slen in Anthracite however it is also available in another 24 different colours.
The Babylonia Tricot-Slen is made from 100% organic cotton. The material has a certain amount of stretch to it but because of the way it is weaved, it remains extremely strong. The wrap itself is quite wide and although it doesn't have any padding, it remains both comfortable for you and your little one because you can spread it out over your shoulders, around your waist and around your little one too.
The slight stretch in the material allows you and your baby to move around freely without feeling restricted and it also means that your little one is held in completely natural positions. Their backs can keep their natural curve whilst remaining supported and because of the amount of material, their hips are able to develop properly as they are always held in the correct "M" seating position.
This wrap is machine washable at 30 degrees; however it is recommended that you don't tumble dry it as that could cause the Tricot-Slen to lose its shape.
I suppose the main feature that the Babylonia Tricot-Slen has, is that it doesn't have any added extras, no accessories that you need to buy to make it work, it isn't all-singing all-dancing, it is one long piece of material - simple yet effective.
It is:
* One size fits all.
* Suitable from birth and that includes premature babies.
* Adjustable so you can breastfeed whilst using it.
The Babylonia Tricot-Slen is what I would call a stretchy wrap, it is one continuous length of material that you first wrap around your own body and then place your little one inside and tighten. This carrier allows you to carry your little one in a variety of positions including:
* Kangaroo hold (perfect for premature and newborn babies)
* Cross Variant (this position allows your little ones to be upright with their legs out)
* Hip position (you can use this position from when your baby is around 4 months old)
There is one position suggested that sits less comfortably with me is the back carry. Although it is possible to do, I feel the stretch of the material doesn't lend enough support, especially if your baby is older and likes to lean back.
Each position starts off in the same way:
Holding the middle of the Tricot-Slen in front of your body, around the waist. Pull the two ends behind you, cross them over and pull each end up and over your shoulders.
What I love is that the wrap comes with an instruction DVD included, this means you can use whatever works for you, either picture, video or written. I am definitely a practical learner, so seeing on video definitely makes it easier for me. Whichever way you choose, practice most definitely makes perfect.
The length of the material means that anyone can use it. If you are short like myself, it is easy enough to wrap the excess material around yourself one more time. The only downside to this is that you may become hot in warm weather but then the opposite to that, you will be lovely and snug in the Winter!
The Babylonia Tricot-Slen is a simple wrap yet it is extremely effective. A one size fits all carrier that allows both baby and parent to be comfortable, whilst giving that much needed closeness. The variety of colours available means that there is one for everyone whether you are looking for boy, girl or gender neutral and the amount of carrying positions that you can try means that you can make it work for you. As stated earlier, my only real concern is using this type of sling once your baby reaches 12months+. The stretchiness of the material isn't as supportive when your little one wants to fidget, look around at the outside world so you may want to buy a different carrier once they reach this stage.
Overall it is well made, it lets you be close with your little one whilst leaving you with your hands free to get on with day to day tasks and this also makes it great value for money.
We give the Babylonia Tricot-Slen 4 out of 5 stars
