Babylonia BB-TAI Material
The BB-TAI is created from an organic and Fair Trade woven cotton wrap which is made with non toxic dyes, and can be easily machine washed if it becomes dirty. It is both soft and extremely lightweight. All of the colours that you can choose from remain fairly neutral in my opinion, making it suitable for any parent or child. It isn't structured like some other carriers; this is something that I personally love because it means that the BB-TAI will wrap around the curves of both your little one and yourself, making sure that your baby is held in the most natural of positions. It also means that you can spread the material out over your shoulders and around your waist, unlike buckle carriers where the straps can only be placed in one position.
Babylonia BB-TAI Features
The BB-TAI has quite a few features that you probably wouldn't notice at first glance.
Newborn Pouch: This pouch provides extra support to smaller babies and can be moved to the perfect height for your little one. With strong velcro straps to attach it, it is simple to adjust and just as easy to remove when no longer needed.
Head Support: A lovely integrated head support that can be adjusted using the toggles on the shoulder straps. This allows you to stabilise your little ones head if they are to fall asleep and leaves you with your hands free to be getting on with day-to-day tasks, looking after older siblings etc.
Carry Bag: The BB-TAI comes presented in a lovely carry bag. Made from the same material as the carrier itself, it is big enough to fit in the essentials like purse, keys and phone as well as a nappy and a packet of wipes. Just as lightweight as the BB-TAI, it also gives you somewhere to put the carrier when not in use.
Babylonia BB-TAI - The Fit
The Babylonia BB-TAI can be used with babies and toddlers that weigh from as little as 2kg right up until around 20kg. It is inspired by Asian carriers called mei tais and can be used to carry your littles ones on your front, on your hip or even on your back. Perfect as it means you can adjust how you use it as your child grows.
Now if you have never seen or heard of these types of carriers before then you may find it slightly tricky to fit for the first few attempts, however the instruction booklet that is provided shows clear pictures and well written instructions to make learning how to use it as straight forward as possible. The idea is simple tie the bottom straps around your waist, as tight as you need, sit baby on your front, hip or back and then take your straps around your shoulders and tie underneath your little ones bottom, it just takes a bit of practice.
What I love about using the BB-TAI, is that you don't need to make any adjustments to let someone else use it, so swapping from mum carrying to dad carrying is no bother at all and because the material fits around your child, it makes it easier to get them in a good seated "M" position.
The BB-TAI is generous in both its width and height and I can see it lasting until your child turns at least 2 years old and because it can be used from birth, it means you would only need to purchase the one carrier.
Babylonia BB-TAI Conclusion
This is one of those carriers that I instantly fell in love with. I think it is very reasonably priced, especially since it can be used right from birth up through to toddler years. It is comfortable to wear and provides that much needed closeness between parent and child.
I really struggled to find negative things to say my only concern would be that the straps may not be long enough for everybody depending on your weight and height, but overall I highly recommend the Babylonia BB-TAI.
We give the Babylonia BB-TAI 5 out of 5 stars.
