A mum from Suffolk has been pitching her product ‘The Playaway Case’ on Dragons Den, sharing her idea with the five millionaire dragons.
The Ipswich based mum of 2 took her Playaway Case onto popular BBC TV series, The Dragons Den, with hopes of raising the finance needed to make her business dreams a reality.
So was it as nerve wracking as it looks on the television? Jo Kerley, the face behind the Playaway Case, tells us “The Dragons are business people through and through, they are always thinking about the next investment. However they are tactical and if your product competes with one they have already invested in, things can be even trickier to negotiate - as I found out!”
So just what is this Playway Case? Well, it came about after Jo took a family holiday in 2010. The experience of travelling with young children and pull along cases gave her an idea to make it all a bit less stressful for busy parents. The Playaway Case is a suitcase that comes with an integrated yet fully removable PlayPod, which serves 2 purposes – it keeps little people busy and entertained AND it saves on extra baggage! The PlayPod comes with activities included as well as secure storage for electronic devices such as iPods and Nintendo DS consoles. No more fishing in the bottom of bags to find the thing your child is after.
The Playaway Case is not only a cool and fun case for children, it also works for parents too.
Do you travel a lot with your children? Would the Playaway Case be something that could work for you?
You can see Jo in action on Sunday 23rd February at 9pm on BBC 2.
