How to choose the Right Baby Bottle For Your Little One
When choosing a baby bottle for your little one remember you may have to try more than one bottle to see which one they prefer, but we are going to go over some tips on basic things to look for when choosing a bottle for your little one.
Tips:
• BPA Free
As new mums you have probably heard to make sure any baby bottle you buy should be BPA free. Most, if not all, are BPA free now. MAM baby bottles have always been produced using BPA free plastic.
• What is BPA and what can it do to my little one?
BPA stands for Bisphenol A which is a carbon-based synthetic compound used in some plastics to make them clear and tough. BPA could affect your baby's early development. Although scientific evidence is not yet conclusive, the European Commission has now put special emphasis on the health and safety of babies and small children.
• Why Anti- Colic bottles?
The Anti-Colic is the ideal bottle for babies right from day one. A vented base ensures that babies can drink in a calm and relaxed way. This reduces incidents of colic up to 80% in the case of MAM Anti-colic bottle.
Dr. Raphael Schellnegger, Dr. Reinhold Kerbl conducted a study concerning the varied sucking patterns of different baby bottles. At the Leoben Regional Hospital Children's Health Dept., new-borns were fed with both the MAM Anti-Colic with the vented base as well and a conventional bottle (vent in the teat). The sucking pattern with the conventional bottle was short and abrupt losses of sucking pressure were recorded. This is a result of air entering the bottle to equalise the resulting vacuum. With the base ventilation system it reduces "air intake" and gives a smoother and more even drinking flow, just like breastfeeding.
• Teat
When introducing a teat to your baby you may have to try a few teats before you find one that is suitable. At MAM we have a teat with a breast like shape and texture which has been created in our lab under the recommendation of physicians and medical professionals and is made with a patented silky soft silicone surface which has proven effective: 94% of babies accept the MAM Silk Teat®.* (* Market research 2008-2010, tested with 995 babies.)
We hope these tips will help you understand what you should be looking for when choosing a safe first bottle for your baby and always consulate with your heath visitor if you have any questions about your little one’s safety.
