It’s finally summertime! Not many of us are lucky enough to have our own pool - but if you did, how would you feel having one with small children around?
In America - where it’s much more common to have a house with a pool – child water safety is more pressing problem. To combat the risks of having a little one around a pool, many swimming schools are now offering lessons for children from six months old.
Though a child of that age won’t be able to ‘swim’, they are taught emergency manoeuvres which include rolling on to their backs, how to float and then how to kick until they reach the edge of the pool.
Here’s a video that shows a toddler carrying out what they had learned.
If something similiar was available here in the UK would you get your little one lessons? Do they think they help or, do you feel that they actually put more children at risk of injury by giving parents a false sense of security?
