Laboraide is new to market this year in a bid to help mother's through childbirth without the need for medial intervention or rather the intervention of drugs. This I am sure is music to many Mum-to-Be's ears! You can buy this product off the shelf and pop it into your labour bag - and when the time is right put it to good use. It comes in varying thicknesses and you can buy either a duo-pack or a quad pack - if funds allow I would consider the quad pack as you are more likely to find a thickness which suits you. I would also recommend popping it into your mouth for a while before you are in full blown labour as the feeling does take a little getting used to - at first they felt too 'big' but after a while you notice them less. As with all products which claim to help you have an easier, less painful labour, if they work then they are worth every penny - but not everything works for everyone unfortunately.
The packaging claims a lot, including how discreet they are. You can pop one in and no one would no. I have to say that they both stuck out of my mouth so people would see them, not so discreet! I couldn't see the point of the 1mm one and the plastic at the back was really uncomfortable in my mouth. The 3mm was better. Definitely not sure about this one.
Laboraide retails at £19.99 and it's a small simple device that you put in your mouth and is designed to help aid the second stage of labour. Now, although I didn't use them during labour I did try them out round the house and found them to be big for my mouth and the moulded plastic hurt and felt quite painful. My husband tried one as I wanted to know if I just had a small mouth but he also felt the Laboraide hurting and digging in to his mouth. I think if the Laboraide was made out of a softer material this may improve the product or even being able to trim it down may also help. I would not buy or recommend this product.
