My name is Victoria, I'm married to Neil and we live just outside Liverpool. We have a son, Lucas, who is 4 years old and another baby on the way (mid March). I’m currently on maternity leave and looking forward to some well earned rest before baby arrives. We are quite outdoorsy people and love holidaying in our caravan with Lucas and our spaniel Jessie.
I'm hoping to give the gro-light a good run for its money ... It will be helping Lucas and I find the bathroom in the middle of the night for the next few weeks and then will be moved to our bedroom once the new baby arrives.

First Impressions

My gro light arrived yesterday and it couldn't have come soon enough! I was rather intrigued as to how it would work and the box seemed to explain it quite clearly without even needing to look for the instructions.
It wasn't totally clear how to extricate the unit from the box however, and I left that for the man of the house to do when he got home from work! There is a bit that unscrews, just like on an actual light fitting (apparently).
The unit itself seemed rather plasticy but then, I'm not really sure what else I was expecting! Hubby has just fitted the unit to the light in the upstairs landing. It's hard to see at the moment how bright it is but I'll let you know after a day or 2 of use!

March the 13th 2014

For the first week living with the grolight we decided to put it in our upstairs hallway. This was a touch of genius by the hubby as I had only really thought of using it in bedrooms. I'm now 38 weeks pregnant and have got to the point that night time visits to the loo are at an all time high!

Before the gro light, I used to leave the bathroom light on (5x energy saving bulbs) but pull the door almost closed so that it didn't disturb anyone else during the night. Now I only have to leave the gro light on at its highest setting and it's more than enough to light my way. No more massive energy use either with those 5 bulbs!

Last night, the gro light came up to another test.... My 4 year old fell out of bed. I woke when I heard the thud and jumped up to check on him. I didn't have to turn on any extra lights to get to his room so minimised how much he woke up and managed to settle him again really easily and with only the residual light from the gro light in the hallway.

We have decided to keep the gro light in the hallway until the baby arrives, when we will probably move it to our bedroom. One (maybe 2) weeks to go.......
