Babylonia BB-Sling Material

The BB-Sling is created from a woven cotton wrap just like their BB-TAI. It is made in a Fair Trade project in India using non toxic dyes and can be easily machine washed at 30 degrees should it become spoilt in any way. With a wide range of the colours available, there is one for everyone’s taste.

The material is quite soft straight from the box but it will probably surprise you when you first look at it, that it is both strong and supportive, you can see lots of detailed stitching over the shoulder strap and the close weave of the wrap, making it highly comfortable for both parent and baby.

Babylonia BB-Sling Features

The BB-Sling isn't an all singing all dancing kind of carrier but it still manages to have a couple of features for you to look at:

Shoulder Strap: We were sent the padded version of the BB-Sling which means there is padding to the part of the sling that sits on your shoulder, however there also a non padded version available. The difference in the non padded version is that you can spread the material out over your shoulder.

Aluminium Rings: The BB-Sling comes with two aluminium rings attached to it, these allow you to tighten and loosen your sling with ease.

Babylonia BB-Sling - The Fit

The Babylonia BB-Sling can be used with babies and toddlers that weigh from as little as 3.5kg right up until around 20kg. It is what is known as a ring sling.

The instruction booklet that comes with the sling is extremely helpful - even though I have used a ring sling before, I learnt a couple of things that I didn't know. You get the instructions in both picture and written form. Like the BB-TAI, you can use the BB-Sling to wear your little one on your front, hip or back depending on the age of your baby and it even shows you that you can breastfeed your baby whilst keeping them in the sling, making breastfeeding when out and about both comfortable and discreet.

The idea is to thread your sling first and then place your little one inside. Whichever position you decide to use, you always begin the same, you just need to work out which shoulder you want the BB-Sling to sit on.

Each position holds your baby in a lovely natural way, legs in a nice seated position and letting your little ones body go into a naturally curved state.

It is easily adjustable for whoever is using the sling, so it wouldn't take long to swap from mummy to daddy carrying. It proved really convenient when I had to get out the door quickly as it took next to no time to do up.

Babylonia BB-Sling Conclusion

Baby wearing is a bit trial and error to find which carrier is best suited to you. For me personally, I would say that the BB-Sling is best suited for shorter trips out, I found wearing it more than a couple of hours really pulled on my shoulder, so maybe not great if you were planning to be out all day, however this won't be the same for every person.

The other problem I had was that after doing it up, I was left with quite a lot of material hanging down; I am only 5ft 1 so it would have been nice to have the option to buy a shorter sling. Although, you can also tuck the fabric around or in to the wrap itself.

Overall a lovely sling that is reasonably priced and being suitable from birth, it is definitely worth checking out.

We give the Babylonia BB-Sling 4 out of 5 stars
