Review for LEGO Hero Factory - Surge & Rocka Combat Machine

This is the theme of the latest chapter in the Lego universe. This particular model has 188 pieces and comes with two minifigures, a number of weapons and two jumper monsters. It is aimed at children aged between 8 and 14 and this age guide is about right although perhaps 8 to adult may be a better guide as my husband still enjoys creating Lego models! This Lego kit creates two vehicles, a four legged crawler and a flying machine that can combine into a single powerful combat machine. Flick missiles and a shooter provide plenty of fire power to take on the monsters. We have a large collection of Lego and one of the massive advantages is the ability to use parts from one model to create something new. Quite a few of the pieces included with this set are fairly specialised e.g. the articulated legs and feet, and would have limited used in other creations however this does not detract from the fun of building this particular model.

My 9 year old son was thrilled when I gave him the Lego to review. He has been well trained by his Dad and always uses a large tray when building a new set so that he doesn’t lose any of the pieces. He enjoys making Lego models so needed no assistance (much to my husband’s dismay) and quickly set to work building his model. He found the instructions easy to follow and it took him about an hour to finish making it.

He really enjoyed making the models and especially liked the shooter that fired a small green ball and the flick missiles.
