TRAINER CUP - TRIED AND TESTED
Munchkin Trainer Cup Review by Kelly - Assistant Editor
The Munchkin Disney Click Lock Trainer Cup is an ideal first sippy cup to start your little ones off with independent drinking. We have had the Monsters Inc design to review.
Available in a range of Disney characters and bright, attractive colours for both boys and girls, there is something to suit everyone.
The designs available are:
Monsters inc (pink, blue, green), 2 Winnie the Pooh designs (green, pink or blue, green), Minnie Mouse (blue, pink), Mickey Mouse (blue, green).
Although my son is now 2, the cup is still used by him on occasions and always comes out when we have younger children over to visit. The 2 handles are a great size for little hands and allow children to hold on to the cup securely. A must-have for when they are starting out, giving them confidence to drink. At 8oz, the cup is just the right size for little ones - though you would probably need to refill more often for an older toddler or if you take out for the day.
When we first got the cup, it did take my son a few attempts to drink from it. I tested it myself and you do need to suck quite strongly. With him being a toddler, he was used to a more free flowing cup, so this is probably why he struggled. A baby used to suckling from a bottle should have no trouble.
Suitable from 6 months, the Trainer Cup can be used alongside weaning and is made from BP free materials. The plastic is strong, so will handle being thrown in your changing bag or from the high chair. With Click Lock technology, an audible click let's you know that the lid is securely on. We have experienced no leaks from the spout or seal, and it has been frequently left on its side after use!
The spout itself is made from a soft silicone, which is great when babies make the transition from bottle or breast to cup. It also comes complete with a lid to cover the spout and drinking area to keep it clean. Everything comes apart into 3 simple pieces, making cleaning easy as there are no difficult to reach parts. You can also put it all in the dishwasher.
We have loved using this cup, and I will be using again with my next child. It has washed very well and hasn't lost any of the design, so still looks as good as new. The design is just right for a weaning baby, with the handles and soft spout, while still being attractive to an older toddler.
