First impressions
The packaging followed the usual Lalaloopsy brand style- house shaped box, accessories nicely positioned, doll in a cute pose. The doll and accessories themselves are lovely and bright and seem very well made.
A closer look
This doll seems to be aimed at being a bit more’ grown up’ than the previous ones. It’s bright and cheerful looking with no emphasis on being ‘adult looking’, unlike its rivals (i.e. bratz, Barbie etc) which is a welcome change.
My daughter’s first reaction was ‘look at all of her lovely hair!’ This is a crucial point to Emily as she is a fan of playing hairdresser, but gets very frustrated with hair that tangles too easily! The hair itself consists of numerous plastic strips, curled into ringlets, that have been pre-styled into two bunches.
The paintwork has clean edges and the arm and leg joints are flexible but not flimsy. This version of the doll came with a purple pet elephant, a pink hair comb, a pair of bright pink boots and circus themed clothing.
Emily and I were very impressed with the ease of which she could dress and undress the doll and that the boots had a little ‘L’ and ‘R’ on them to tell them apart. Also, that the doll was able to ‘free stand’ when positioned correctly, unlike the previous dolls which are top heavy.
On the whole, this is a well thought out doll. The accessories are practical, colourful and easy to use and my daughter and I can’t praise it enough.
