Keeping your children rear facing for longer is the safest way to travel

  • Axkid car seats

The Minikid from Swedish brand Axkid, with its superior legroom, is specifically designed for children to remain rear facing until they are 25kg in weight or approximately 6 years old. The seat is easily installed using a vehicles existing standard 3 point seatbelt and comes equipped with a 5-point harness to ensure maximum safety for a child once strapped in. The extra-long leg support allows for installation in a wide variety of vehicles.

The integrated 5-point harness and headrest automatically adjusts according to the size of the child, while a unique tether strap tightening function ensures that tethers are automatically tightened by simply rocking the seat. Deep side wings offer additional side impact protection and 5 recline positions offer maximum comfort.

Keeping children in rear facing seats for longer is customary in some Scandinavian countries and is becoming increasingly popular with parents in the UK. In June 2009 the British Medical Journal recommended that rear facing is the safest way for children under 4 years of age to travel in a car.

The Axkid Minikid has passed the rigorous Swedish Plus Test, a demanding test for child car seats, with a higher acceleration, that measures the performance of a seat in protecting the head and neck area in a frontal collision. The Swedish Plus Test was introduced in 2009 and is widely considered to be the strictest car seat standard in Europe. The Axkid Minikid also complies with ECE R44/04.
