It is now confirmed that Anna Richardson, 44, who has presented Supersize vs Superskinny, Secret Eaters and the Sex Education Show for Channel 4 is in a relationship with Sue Perkins who became famous in the late 1990s when she co-hosted Channel 4’s Mel Giedroyc. More recently, Anna is best known for presenting the Great British Bake Off. Anna and Sue are co-habiting at Sue’s house in North London and one of their neighbours is Ed Milliband.
The ladies got together after Anna had split from drama director Charles Martin after 18 years together (and had never considered herself to be gay), Sue had also come out of a long term relationship with a female artist.
Yesterday, Anna talked to Lorraine Kelly about Sue on her ITV programme, “We’ve known each other for a few years, we’ve got mutual friends, you know what it’s like in TV, you tend to know people. I was with my boyfriend for nearly 20 years and I’ve known Sue on the circuit, but about a year and a half ago we met at a party and I was recently single and we just… all I can say, there was an understanding between us and for me the planets aligned and I just thought, ‘This person’ it’s not even about a woman,‘this person is absolutely extraordinary’.”
She also revealed how supportive her parents had been about the partnership, saying: ‘My dad’s a vicar, my mum’s an RE teacher so you would think “this isn’t going to go down very well”,’ she admitted.
‘But actually they were really, really open to the whole thing. They can see that I’m happy!’
Anna told The Times, “It was a massive shock for me to find myself drawn to this extraordinary woman. On the one hand, yes, confusing, because I had been with a man for 18 years and loved him very much, and never in any way thought, ‘I’m gay.’ And yet it felt utterly natural.”
The loved-up couple are so in tune with each other that Anna has been able to hypnotise and regress Sue, so that she can beat her sugar addiction. Sue usually puts on a stone during the filming of the Great British Bake Off due to her love of sugar, so let’s see how she gets on during the next series.
Mumii’s happy that they are happy!
Do you think that meeting an ‘extraordinary person’ can lead you to having a same sex relationship, or do you think someone is born gay? We would love to hear from you.
